On this page, we will test whether you can boot into FTM mode. FTM mode is required in order for your phone to communicate with your computer without Android loaded onto your phone.


  1. Turn off your phone and remove the battery.
  2. Wait 5 seconds.
  3. Reinsert the battery.
  4. Make sure your phone is disconnected from your computer.
  5. Hold the Volume down and Power on button at the same time, for 10 seconds.
  6. Click the result from the options below.

I can see "FTM" on my phone's screen.

  1. Turn off your phone by removing the battery.
  2. Reinsert the battery and turn your phone on.
  3. Continue to the next page.

My phone has booted into ClockworkMod Recovery.

You need to reinstall the stock ROM and stock kernel. You should already have the required files on your phone.


  1. In ClockworkMod Recovery, use the Volume buttons on the side of your phone to highlight wipe cache partition.
  2. Press the Home button to select.
  3. Highlight and select Yes - Wipe Cache.
  4. Highlight and select wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Highlight and select Yes -- delete all user data.
  6. Highlight and select advanced.
  7. Highlight and select Wipe Dalvik Cache.
  8. Highlight and select Yes - Wipe Dalvik Cache.
  9. Press the Return / Back button once.
  10. Highlight and select Install zip from sdcard.
  11. Highlight and select choose zip from sdcard.
  12. Highlight and select rom-stock.zip
  13. Highlight and select Yes - Install rom-stock.zip
  14. Wait for the ROM to finish installing. This may take up to 10 minutes.
  15. Highlight and select choose zip from sdcard.
  16. Highlight and select kernel-stock.zip
  17. Highlight and select Yes - Install kernel-stock.zip
  18. Wait until the install has completed.
  19. Press the Return / Back button and highlight and select reboot system now.
  20. Wait until your phone fully loads. This may take up to 10 minutes.
  21. Turn off your phone and remove the battery.
  22. Wait 5 seconds.
  23. Reinsert the battery.
  24. Hold the Volume down and Power on button at the same time, for 10 seconds.
  25. You should now see FTM on your screen (if you do not see FTM, click My phone has booted as normal below).
  26. Turn off your phone by removing the battery.
  27. Reinsert the battery and turn your phone on.
  28. Continue to the next page.

My phone has booted as normal.

If your phone boots as normal, it is likely that you did not press the required buttons correctly, or you did not disconnect your phone from your computer. Follow the steps below carefully.


  1. Turn off your phone and remove the battery.
  2. Wait 5 seconds and reinsert the battery.
  3. Make sure your phone is disconnected from your computer.
  4. Hold the Volume down and Power on button at the same time, for 10 seconds.
  5. Click the appropriate result from the options above.
